Challenge / Goal
Accurately assessing the impact of weather and climate requires highly granular information, encompassing detailed data on atmospheric conditions. Additionally, there is a significant demand for communication infrastructure to effectively distribute this city data to both planners and citizens.
Solution
In Leipzig West, a LoRaWAN network has been successfully deployed, enabling seamless connectivity and communication among various devices and sensors.
This network incorporates standardised sensors and systems, ensuring compatibility and efficient data integration. The collected data, including weather information, air quality, humidity and radiation levels, is being effectively utilised for municipal use cases related to climate change and energy, empowering decision-making processes. As part of this initiative, environmental sensors have been installed in collaboration with [ui] Urban Lighting Innovations, further enhancing the city's capacity to monitor and address environmental challenges.
