Challenge / Goal
When more renewable energy is used both on-site and in energy systems, limiting the peak power demand becomes increasingly valuable for the building owners. The use case demonstrated how power peaks from elevators and escalators can be compensated by controlling other loads in buildings.
Solution
In the Use Case, selected elevators and escalators are connected to Sello's Virtual Power Plant (VPP) Platform via API. A smart algorithm predicts use of the elevators and escalators beforehand based on people flow and provides this information to the VPP platform that will compensate for the increased peak demand in other assets connected to the VPP in the same building.
