Challenge / Goal
The main focuses and objectives of the mobility axis of the Impulso VLCi project are as follows:
- Citizen demand for charging stations for electric vehicles.
- Strategy for the acquisition of municipal vehicles and eco-sustainable contracts.
- Expansion of the EMT's fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles.
- Synergies with control panels of the municipal lighting service.
- Modification of the regulatory framework "Entre Gestor de Cargas" - Royal Decree-Law 15/2018.
In terms of electric mobility, there were already previous installations in the city:
- 72 recharging stations of the European MAtchUP project.
- 8 autonomous charging stations on public roads.
Therefore there was a need to develop a comprehensive municipal smart system for the management of electric vehicle charging in the environment of the city of Valencia.
This system will be supported by a technological platform that will allow the respective functionalities of charge management, integrating the necessary communications for its operation. The implementation of the project, the intelligent system and the necessary infrastructure will facilitate sustainable development in the city of Valencia. This will lead to new developments for the efficient use of energy, overcoming the limitations for the management of electricity supply to electric vehicles and the high costs of recharging without proper management.
Solution
An intelligent and comprehensive electric vehicle charging management system will be developed and implemented in the city of Valencia. This action includes the supply and deployment of semi-fast charging posts (22 kW) and fast charging posts (50 kW), as well as the necessary software for their management (posts, electric vehicles, charges, etc.). The location of these posts will be carried out according to the needs proposed by the Sustainable Mobility Area of the València City Council.
In summary, it includes these actions:
- Development of a municipal E.V. recharge management system (Management Platform + App recharge).
- Supply of 8 fast charging stations
- Integration of existing stations into the new platform
- Municipal operation of the system
- New value-added services for citizens (Integration with municipal systems: municipal census (residents bonus...)).
