Challenge / Goal
Congestion in cities is a major source of delay and frustration for commuters and residents alike, as well as increasing pollution levels and damaging air quality. Integrated with other smart solutions, the aim of this use case is to synchronise traffic signals to give environmentally sound trucks operating from a logistics centre priority.
Solution
Traffic lights at two junctions are equipped with signal priority systems to give electric and renewable fuelled delivery trucks operating from a logistics centre a green light faster than others, reducing their travel time. The trucks, which will be operating for the construction consolidation centre that serves the renovation of refurbishments within the GrowSmarter Stockholm Site in Valla Torg and Slakthusområdet, were equipped with a special sensor which can be recognised by the priority systems installed on the traffic lights.
