Challenge / Goal
Increasing greening is essential to mitigate the rising temperatures due to climate change. However, this approach depends heavily on water supply, which is challenging due to the global scarcity of water resources.
Solution
VERTUO has designed a system inspired by natural processes to manage water in urban environments. This system involves creating artificial water tables that allow for the autonomous irrigation of city plantings for up to 90 days without rain, typical of heatwaves. The process starts with collecting and storing rainwater, followed by filtration through a patented, passive system that removes hydrocarbons. This setup supports the irrigation of plants throughout the year without additional water inputs, effectively replicating the function of natural phreatic water tables in an urban context.
