Road conditions are recorded using smartphones that are attached to the windshield. Image data is recorded while the vehicle is in motion,
which are censored and analyzed - using proprietary neural networks (artificial intelligence). These results are visualized or exported to municipalities in the vialytics web GIS.
The goal is to maintain the road condition at the best possible level without the road becoming dilapidated, due to environmental and traffic impacts, but to maintain it as good as possible with minimal effort. The solution is installed on the windshield of municipal vehicles to detect damage such as potholes and cracks at an early stage. If the right time to rehabilitate a road is missed, rehabilitation costs increase by a factor of about 5. However, if road damage is detected early, it can still be rehabilitated cost-effectively. Previous solutions were too large in their measuring point distances.
